We at the Impakt Foundation would like to thank all participants this year and wish you all luck in the future; hopefully you had fun and hopefully you’ll be back in 2014 for another go at the title.  Our defending champions, the UNO Alums were unable to defend their title this year after losing in the Semifinals to the last place team after round robin play on Saturday, Chemistry Counts.  Chemistry’s captain Josh Horton got his team fired up after a disappointing 0-2 start to the tournament on Day One after being one of the odds on favorites to win and they rattled off three straight wins on their way to the finals.

Unfortunately for them, they ran into first time contestants and new champions Backdoor Entry who were brought here by captain Ben Holling.  Backdoor Entry completed a perfect tournament by going 2-0 on day one after a near loss to start the day at the hands of your very own Impakt Foundation squad and finished going 3-0 on day two by defeating the Express Pros in stout fashion in the quarterfinals, surviving a scare from the SD Boyz led by Griffan Callahan in the semifinals, before finally prevailing over Chemistry Counts at the very end, despite a last minute run by the 12th seed that fell just short.

Backdoor Entry

We’re proud to have Backdoor Entry as our new reigning champions; they went about their business professionally as if it was their job and they were overly exiting to watch with high flying James Parrott, a recent Midland graduate and NAIA All-American, and Greg Smith, our tournament MVP and Colorado State standout that helped the Rams reach the NCAA tournament just a month ago.

Once again we’d like to say thanks to all the contestants from this years tournament and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.  Thank you for getting us to our goal and thanks for some great basketball.  See you all next year.
